Earn your high school diploma as you prepare for a career in the high-demand field of transportation services! This 18-credit high school program will teach you the skills you need to begin a career as a truck driver or commercial driver. When you complete the program, you will graduate with a high school diploma from Career Online High School as well as a career-credentialed certificate.

Career Online High School is a division of Smart Horizons Career Online Education, a private school district that has been granted District Accreditation from the AdvancED Accreditation Commission, the national commission that confers the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) accreditation seal.  This means that the SHCOE district and all its schools are accredited, and that Smart Horizons Career Online Education is recognized across the nation as a quality school system.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, you will have:

  • Earned your AdvancED/SACS accredited high school diploma
  • Completed self-study preparation to obtain a commercial driver’s license
  • Completed a career portfolio with cover letter, resume, and more

Requirements

This program can be taken on a PC or a Mac. You will need Internet access and email capability. You will need to have Windows 7, Vista, or XP. You will need to use Internet Explorer version 6 or later, or any version of Firefox. You will also need Adobe Reader. In addition, you will need Macromedia Flash Player (version 8 or greater).  You will also need to enable JavaScript in your browser options.

Hardware:

  • Pentium 500mhz CPU or greater or equivalent
  • 64 MB available system RAM (128 MB recommended)
  • 1024 x 768, 16-bit color display or better
  • Standard mouse and keyboard speakers and soundcard
  • All materials for this program are available online.

Prerequisites

All students entering Career Online High School must be at least 16 years of age prior to the first day of class and have successfully completed the 8th Grade at an accredited institution. Minors will be required to obtain parental consent to enrollment and acknowledgment of responsibility. 

All of our programs are self-paced and open enrollment, so you can start them when you want and finish them at your own pace.
