The Microsoft Excel 2013 Certification Training program teaches students skills in Microsoft Excel 2013 and prepares them for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification Exam 77-420. Students learn essential Excel skills, including creating and editing basic worksheets and workbooks, working with advanced formulas, using lists and illustrations, adding charts and advanced formatting, managing pivot tables, and auditing and analyzing worksheet data. Students will also utilize complex data tools and collaborate with other students at various points in the program. As students advance into the program, they will learn to create and manage macros.


Upon program completion, you will be able to perform the following tasks in Excel:

  • Create and modify basic worksheets and perform calculations
  • Modify the appearance of data within a worksheet
  • Use the print features, formulas, and functions
  • Create and modify charts
  • Convert, sort, filter, and manage lists
  • Insert and modify illustrations and tables

You will additionally be able to perform the following advanced Excel functions:

  • Use conditional formatting, styles, and pivot tables
  • Trace precedents and dependents
  • Convert text and validate/ consolidate data
  • Collaborate with others by protecting worksheets and workbooks
  • Create, use, edit, and manage macros
  • Import and export data


This program can only be taken on a PC. It is not Mac compatible. It is compatible with Windows XP and later operating systems, IE 8 and later browsers, Chrome 5 and later browsers, Firefox 3 and later browsers, and Safari 3 and later browsers.

  • Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Acrobat Reader are required for this program.
  • You will need Microsoft Excel 2013 for this program. If you do not have Microsoft Excel 2013 installed, you can download a free trial offer of Microsoft Office, which includes Excel 2013.

Students should be familiar with using a personal computer, mouse, and keyboard. They should be comfortable in a Windows environment, and have the ability to launch and close activities and navigate to information stored on the computer.
